Explorer, also referred to as This computer, is a built in application in Windows that can be used to access files and documents.

Where can I find my files, folders and documents?

Start Windows Explorer, and then click “Documents”.

“Documents” is a special subfolder in your home folder. There are also more specific sub-folders in your home folder. What makes them special is that they are prepared for certain content, with special icons, and have a special naming in the file system. Below is a list of some of the subfolders that are preinstalled:

Documents Documents Use this folder for your personal working documents and folders.
Photos Pictures Use this folder for your pictures. Keep in mind that storage space is limited.
Movies Videos Use this folder for your movies. Keep in mind that storage space is limited.
Music Music Use this folder for your music. Keep in mind that storage space is limited.
Downloaded Files Downloads Stored here, unless otherwise specified, are the files you download from the Internet.
Desktop Desktop Your content on the desktop is stored here.
Favorites Favorites Your personal bookmarks / favorites are stored here.

Devices

LTH Faculty Office

The units (both local and network drives) used at the LTH Faculty Office can all be accessed from Windows Explorer:

Home Directory U: Individual, conforming to the format
\\aurora.net.lth.se\home\USERNAME.uw
Contains your personal home directory and all of your personal files, documents and folders, and all of the special folders listed above. Backed up Daily.
Gemensam (Common) M: \\aurora\Gemensam Common and department-specific files, documents and folders. Backed up Daily. Use primarily this network location to share work documents with your colleagues.
Transport T: \\aurora\Transport Temporary files and folders. Not backed up.
EIT

The units (both local and network drives) used at EIT can all be accessed from Windows Explorer:
