Explorer, also referred to as This computer, is a built in application in Windows that can be used to access files and documents.
Microsoft has collected information on the Explorer in Windows 8.1 on their website:

Start Windows Explorer, and then click “Documents”.
“Documents” is a special subfolder in your home folder. There are also more specific sub-folders in your home folder. What makes them special is that they are prepared for certain content, with special icons, and have a special naming in the file system. Below is a list of some of the subfolders that are preinstalled:

Downloaded Files | Downloads | Stored here, unless otherwise specified, are the files you download from the Internet. |

Favorites | Favorites | Your personal bookmarks / favorites are stored here. |
The units (both local and network drives) used at the LTH Faculty Office can all be accessed from Windows Explorer:
